10 HARMLESS HALLOWEEN PRANKS TO SPOOK YOUR KIDS THIS OCTOBER

October is just about to end, which means that soon we will be celebrating the most exciting (and spookiest!) holiday of all – Halloween. In addition to traditional pumpkin carving and trick-or-treating, you can use some of our Halloween prank ideas to give your children a little scare and a big laugh afterwards. Just a safety warning: always take the age of your children into consideration beforehand. Some Halloween pranks work better for older kids and some are perfectly good for your youngsters as well. Have fun!

WORM SURPRIZE

Make or buy a bunch of jelly worms and hide them in your kids’ food. Wait for the reaction when the victim finds the gift. It may not be the spookiest, but it is for sure one of the tastiest Halloween pranks with you and your kids getting to snack on the jelly worms after the fun.

MIRROR MESSAGE

Write a message on the bathroom mirror using a liquid soap. When the target of your prank takes a bath or a shower, the mirror fogs up and the words you wrote appear on it as if somebody invisible just wrote them. Think about writing something spooky like "I see you" or "I’m watching you". A scary ghost or skull drawing will also be a great idea.

CARAMEL ONIONS

One more of the food-connected funny Halloween pranks: take a bunch of onions or – for a less cruel option – some Brussel sprouts and cover them with caramel just as if you were cooking caramel apples. What's better than tricking your kids with veggies this Halloween!

SPIDER SCARE

You can give a little scare to your younger kids with spooky paper art. Take a sheet of black paper and cut out a bunch of spiders or - if you don't feel like sharing all those spiders yourself - look up some holiday-themed stencils tailored specifically to Halloween prank ideas. Hide the cut-outs somewhere where your victim is sure to find them - lay them under their blanket, glue them to the inner side of the closet doors or the toilet cover for an extra scare.

SPOOKY DRESS-UP

Dress up like a witch, scarecrow or vampire - a Halloween-themed mask will help you complete the disguise - and spook your younger kids. Remeber to careful with the prank and do not overdo it. Consider staying away from jumpscares with the more tame and fun Halloween pranks.

ICE TRAY INSECTS

Add plastic spiders, ants or rubber eyeballs in your ice cube tray. Fill with water and freeze for a scary drink - just add the ice cubes into a beverage and wait for the screams! Remeber to use only on school-age children in order to avoid the possibility of choking with the small plastic toys.

KOOL-AID SHOWER

One of the more elaborate Halloween prank ideas is to unscrew a showerhead and put some red Kool-Aid or any other red powdered drink mix inside. Then put the showerhead back on and wait for the scream! They will definitely not be expecting a bright-red shower first thing in the morning.

PILLOW SCARE

Here's a fun idea: print out a scary mask and quietly put it on your kids’ pillow when they are asleep. The spooky monster right next to their face will be the first thing your child sees after opening their eyes. This just proves that a spooky mask can help execute lots of funny Halloween pranks - even without a person to wear them! Glue the mask to a string and hang it from the ceiling lamp - the person who turns the light on will sure be surprised to see the invader.

GLOW STICK MONSTERS

This is of the DIY Halloween pranks that call for a little preparation beforehand. Get your hands on some old toilet paper rolls and cut monster eyes on them. Buy some glow sticks and place them inside the rolls. Do not use candles - toilet rolls are extremely flammable. Place the glowing eye rolls somewhere in the dark and watch your victims freak out. That can also work as an outside Halloween prank idea for trick-or-treaters - just hide them in the bushes on your porch.

"HEAD" IN A JAR

One of the old and funny Halloween pranks is the well-known and well-scary head in a jar. Find a DIY-printable of a face or - if you're feeling crafty - you can find instructions and make the picture of your own head to use in the prank. Print the picture on waterproof paper or laminate it before putting it into a jar with colored water to execute one of the famous and spookiest Halloween pranks.
