A lineup card - sometimes referred to as a lineup sheet - helps the scorer and the referee keep track of the rotation order of the players on the court and their serving order. The lineup is filled out and submitted by the team's coach before the beginning of a game. A lineup sheet usually doubles as a roster, listing the player's names and jersey numbers. It contains the rotation order, team information and libero - if there are any. Although sports lineup sheets may vary depending on the event or hosting organization, they usually contain the same basic information crucial for keeping score and judging the game. Keep in mind that each organization might have specific rules to when lineup cards need to be submitted. Remember that there isn't one right way to fill out a volleyball lineup sheet - there are many different strategies that can get your team to the top.
Using a Volleyball Lineup Sheet
The first thing to do when filling out a volleyball lineup sheet is to check if your team is serving or receiving. List serving order numbers and mark the team captain with the letter "C", then assign a number of the libero player for each game in the spaces provided on the lineup card. Each organization has their own specific rules to when lineups need to be submitted, but most commonly a volleyball lineup sheet has to be submitted to the scorer before the end of a pre-match warm-up. Keep in mind that some organizations may also require a separate roster to be submitted along with the lineup.
