GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The ideal candidate
: Accomplished Artist with an aptitude as a designer and practitioner whose work is able to
compete/influence on a local, national and international level. Ability to serve as the ambassador of Theatre Arts
education program with elementary, middle and high school aged students across Louisiana with the potential to
expand nationally. Delivers and/or oversees classroom instruction, to include exploration of basic history and trends of
materials in the design of costumes, makeup and wigs; and the study and practice of selected theatre repertory.
Delivers / oversees departmental preparatory programs offered, as appropriate.
Has the ability to partner with
students and parents of all social and economic backgrounds to successfully meet or exceed program objectives.
Demonstrates an innovative, creative spirit that’s willing to go the extra mile.
Fully supports NOCCA’s vision of
becoming the premier conservatory for high school students in the country.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Serve as instructor of costume design and construction, stage makeup and wig design.
May also include teaching draping, pattern making, mask making, color theory and rendering.
Supervising and mentoring student designers and technicians as well as recruiting students to the
program will be expected .
Attends departmental meeting and other meetings on campus as required.
Is available for extra rehearsals, performances and auditions, after regular working hours.
Is available for outreach performances both during and after working hours.
Participates in professional growth opportunities as both an artist and an instructor.
Prepares lesson plans and sets course objectives, and monitors student progress.
Awards grades following established policy.
Maintains required office hours for planning and departmental meetings, to provide assistance to
Department Chair with administrative duties, and to provide assistance to students both individually
or in small groups as needed.
Serves on standing or ad hoc committees and participates in mandatory meetings as requested.
Complies with the NOCCA’s policies and procedures in accordance with required deadlines.
Participates in discipline related student activities in cooperation with NOCCA Student Services and
established protocols.
Participates in coverage of other NOCCA productions as requested by the Department on a rotation-
basis.
Performs related work as required by circumstances or as directed.
