RE: RAINE SHANNARA MEDICAL FUND
DATE: FRIDAY, APRIL 29, 2011
th
On Friday March 25
eight year old Raine Shannara came down with a headache, which
rapidly escalated, into extreme pain. A few minutes later, Raine began to vomit and lose
motor control of her body. Raines’ parents rushed her to Bartlett Regional Hospital
where she awaited to be flown to Seattle. It was discovered that Raine had suffered a
brain aneurism.
Upon arriving at Harborview Medical Center, Raine needed to undergo brain surgery to find and
repair the damaged artery. Many tests needed to be completed as well as two more surgeries in
order to save her life. It is a miracle that Raine is alive. The physicians have determined that
Raine suffers from a rare medical condition called AVM. This is a condition, which no one was
aware she had, until Raine suffered her brain aneurism.
We know that the cost of her medical care to date can be catastrophic, not to mention the cost of
care from this point forward.
We are seeking donations and contributions from local businesses and individuals for a
th
fundraiser event that will take place on April 29
at Glacier Valley Elementary School from
5:30-8 p.m. The event will include a Taco Feed, a dessert auction and a silent auction with the
cost being $10 per person or $30 per family. Any donations or contributions to this event would
be much appreciated. To thank you for your support, we will post notices of all those who
donated. We know that without your support we cannot reach our goal, so thank you in advance
for your generosity. If you would like to donate, please see the information below.
Sincerely,
The Glacier Valley Elementary School Staff
