The Hiring Incentive Training Grant Program
The Hiring Incentive Training Grant Program (HTIG) is open to all employers. It provides
training grants of up to $2,000 per employee and up to $20,000 a year per company.
This program assists in paying training costs for newly hired employees who have been
permanently separated and unemployed over a year.
Training Options
Employers can use a training provider of their choice. They may also use qualified
employees of the company to conduct internal training of new hires. As a service to
employers, a searchable

is available if a company needs to find a
training course or program.

On the Job Training (OJT)
training for Dislocated Workers, Low Income Adults and Older Youth. The goal of the
OJT program is to place participants in occupations that will enhance their prospects for
long-term employment and will ultimately permit them to become self-sufficient. OJT
involves the acquisition of specific skills and employment competencies, through
exposure in an actual work setting, to the processes, work tasks, tools and methods of
a specific job or group of jobs.
It is a “hire-first” program in which the employer, either public or private, enters into an
agreement with the Career Center to hire, train, and retain the individual upon
successful completion of the training program. Through this program, businesses may
be reimbursed up to 50% of the new employee’s wages (maximum as defined in local
area's training cap) while they are in training. Because it is a “hire-first” program, OJT is
only available to participants whose goal is immediate employment.
Example of Potential Employer Savings:
WtW + WOT + HITG + OJT = $11,150.00 (year one)
WtW = $4,250.00 (year two)
Total: $15,400.00
The above is only an example
