– Look for common themes

– Highlight how you fit the job

– Look for specific skills requested

– Must start with a killer sentence

– Directed to particular job and company

• Research the company

• Key words in job announcement

– What is their mission?

• Salutation

– What are their core values?

– To whom it may concern ‐‐‐ NO

– Dear Person I. Know

– Do you know anyone in the company?

– Dear Hiring Manager ‐ not good but better than first

• Send letter to them

– Skip it

– Has the company or person been in the news lately?

• If good, use for first sentence
