A Thaumatrope Spinner is known as an optical toy.

This means that it tricks your eyes. Make your own

Thaumatrope and see what happens.

You will need:

Glue

Scissors

Colouring pens or pencils

Elastic

Template

Card

What to do:

Colour in the two character images shown.

2. Cut out a circle of card that is the same size

or bigger than this circle.

3. Now cut out the circle containing the

Donkey picture and stick this on one side of

your card circle.

4. Cut out and stick your Puss picture on the other

side of the card circle, so that it is upside-down.

5. Now make two holes in the card using a sharp pencil.

Ask an adult to help you with this.

6. Thread the elastic through each of the holes and tie each

piece into a loop.

7. Wind the card round and round.

8. Now pull the elastic tight and watch what happens.
