• Greet your teacher and give the teacher your evaluation sheet.

• Let the class know you need them in Community Circle to start the lesson.
SAY IT:
Discuss the Lifeline of Responsibility
•
Ask the students to define the Lifeline of Responsibility (Responsibility means to be
accountable for your actions).
•Tell the class that being responsible means doing the right thing even when it’s hard to
do. It means we own our actions whether they are good or bad. Explain that responsible
people are people you can count on and trust. Responsible people sometimes make
mistakes but they fix them. When we are responsible at home our parents trust us more
and give us more privileges and responsibilities. Likewise, when we are responsible at
school we earn the trust of our teachers and school administrators.
•Tell the class these three scenarios and after each one ask,
“What is the responsible thing to do?” (1-2 answers per question)
-You have lots of homework but your friends want you to play video games or talk on
the phone.
-You are turning in your library book and notice a page is torn.
-Because of a bad choice you made, other people suffer consequences.
Tell the class after interviewing their teacher, their class needs to show more responsibility
in these two areas. Tell the class their goal is to improve in these two areas:

PLAY IT:

•Tell the class that today we will be filling out a chart of what responsibility looks like and
sounds like in these two goal areas. Ask the teacher to be the recorder.

THE CHALLENGE: Responsibility Challenge Sheet
•Give each student a challenge sheet and tell them their challenge is to write how they will
help their class use responsibility in these two areas.
RELAY IT/WEIGH IT:
Tell the class you will be back to see who completed the challenge on
__________________. Let the teacher know they will need to give you a percentage of
students that completed the Responsibility Challenge.
•Ask them if they have any questions?
• Encourage them to be responsible and meet their goals this week.
•Thank them for having you.
