Initial Camera Settings
IMAGE SIZE AND COMPRESSION
Shoot at full resolution with the best quality compression. The file size of these images will be larger so
the size of your memory card may be a concern. However, it gives you a lot more flexibility if you later want to
crop your photo. Change those settings on your camera now!!!
Image size is simply the dimensions, in pixels, of the image the camera will create.

FILE FORMAT
Most of your cameras will shoot only JPEG images. However, some will have the option of shooting TIFF
or Raw or Raw + JPEG.
TIFF: TIFF files are a standard, uncompressed file format that just about every graphics program can read. Your
memory card will hold fewer pictures because the file size is much larger. Shooting TIFF is helpful if you need to
enlarge an area of your photo within your image editing software and don’t want the blocky JPEG artifacts.
Raw: Raw is the preferred choice for uncompressed shooting. The file sizes are larger than JPEG but you will
have much more flexibility in making adjustments in your image editing software.
