Youth, p.22
1- Check out in the quote to the above right from the For the Strength of Youth Pamphlet under ―Language‖. If how you speak says much of
who you are, what kind of words do you think your hero used? What words did they and didn’t they use?

2- Do you think your hero would have insulted others or put them down, even as a joke? Why or why not?

3- On the adjoining page is part of a conference talk by Elder Holland. Take a minute and read it, mark up your favorite parts, and then
answer these three questions:
How would my hero have had a ―tongue of angels‖? (Angels save people, and if you have a ―tongue of angels‖, you say the sort of
things an angel would say)
In what ways do I have a ―tongue of angels‖?
In what ways do I have a tongue of fire? (Fire burns, so if you have a tongue of fire then your words burn others)
4-Now take a moment and read the poem and the story on the other page. What do they teach you about the power of words?

5- Read the following scriptures. Next to them, write what they teach you about the power of words.
James 3:2-10
Matthew 15:11
Ephesians 4:29-32
Enos 1:3
6- Consider your vocabulary. Are there words that you use, that may not uplift others when you use them? Are there words that your
hero wouldn’t use because they may give the wrong impression of who they were?
