When you’ve chosen your experience, write a one-page description. Be careful not to simply list the events of
the day, but incorporate all of your fantastic writing skills to really make us feel like we were with you. It’s
likely that you’ll want to use proper paragraphing with a paper of this length, so don’t forget to indent when
you start a new one!
Other things to keep in mind:
Descriptions make your writing more interesting. What did you touch, taste, smell, hear, say?
Who were you with? Did you have any specific feelings on this particular day? What was the
weather like?
A thesaurus will help you find really great words! You can find a thesaurus on line or at the
library.
This writing is a reflection of you—so do your best! You want to make a good impression on
your reader.
You have learned tons about writing well in the past—bring all your skills together in this
piece.
You will be sharing this work with your class when school begins, so do your best and be very detailed! We
want to feel like we joined you on this adventure!
