Assignment:

1. Create a Valentine holder at home. Use any materials available to

you: shoebox, cereal box, paper bag, markers, crayons, stickers,

glitter, ribbons, etc. Your Valentine holder should be colorful and

creative.

2. Write an expository essay outlining the steps you took while creating

your Valentine holder. Make sure to use transition words like

first, next, then, and finally to explain and sequence the steps you

took.

3. Present Valentine holder to class.

Your Valentine holder will be used at our class party to collect your

Valentines from friends. So, make sure your holder has a place

where your Valentines can be inserted.

Your essay needs to be written in paragraph form with easy-to-

follow, step-by-step directions of how you created your Valentine

holder. Use the graphic organizer to keep track of your steps. Your

essay should have an interesting lead and include transition words

that help the reader understand your steps! Make sure to use your

best handwriting on your final copy.

Use the grading rubric to judge the quality of your project. You will
