IMPORTANT INFORMATION
CalWORKs Supportive Services and Cash Aid
To Support Family Reunification
 If your child(ren) is separated from your home, your CalWORKs cash aid will be discontinued
or reduced at that time.
 Continue to comply with CalWORKs eligibility requirements so you can receive five months
of transitional CalFRESH (foodstamp) benefits.
 For continued monetary assistance, apply for CAAP-County Adult Assistance Program
(formerly GA) when your CalWORKs aid is discontinued.
 You may also be eligible to continue to receive employment and supportive services through
CalWORKs to enhance reunification efforts with your child(ren). If you continue to receive
employment services in CalWORKs, CAAP will waive your employment participation requirement.
What you need to do about Cash Aid:
 You may be eligible for CAAP (formerly GA) if your CalWORKs cash aid was completely
discontinued.
 You will receive a notice in the mail about the discontinuance/reduction of your CalWORKs
cash aid.
 Bring the CalWORKs notice of discontinuance with you and apply for CAAP cash aid
as soon as possible at the CAAP office at 1235 Mission St., San Francisco.
What you need to do about CalWORKs Supportive Services:
 You may be eligible for CalWORKs/Family Reunification supportive services if the judge
has ordered family reunification. Supportive services include: Referrals for substance
abuse, mental health or domestic violence issues; Welfare-to-Work/employment services;
clothing allowance; housing related services, etc.
After the initial Team Decision-making Meeting (TDM), your Protective Services Worker (PSW)
and CalWORKs Worker will meet with you to create a coordinated CalWORKs/Family
Reunification case plan. This case plan will include the requirements needed to fulfill your
responsibilities to both the Juvenile Court and your CalWORKs Welfare-to-Work case plan; and
will also reflect the provided supportive services.
 Your PSW or CalWORKs worker will work with you to identify the best time to meet for the
Linkages case coordination meeting. You should be notified of the date, time and location
within 30-60 days after the initial TDM.
