IMPORTED TO CANADA
A resident of Canada may make application to register a foreign born dog provided:
1. The person who imported the foreign dog to Canada and is making application is a resident of Canada.
2. The imported dog is of a breed that is recognized by The Canadian Kennel Club and has been registered by a foreign club or organization whose
Stud Book or record is recognized by the CKC. (A list of countries and registry organizations whose pedigrees are acceptable can be obtained by
contacting the CKC.)
3. The dog is identified by an implanted microchip or tattoo mark in accordance with the requirements of The Canadian Kennel Club. (See Identification
section for more information.)
4. The persons applying for registration is identified as the recorded owners in the records of the foreign club or organization that issued the certificate.
A signed statement or amended certificate confirming the transfer of ownership to the Canadian resident may be required.
5. The application for registration is accompanied by a clear and legible copy of the certificate of registration (or export certificate) issued by a
recognized foreign club or organization and a clear and legible copy of the certified pedigree of the dog, which sets forth the known pedigree of the
dog to a minimum of three generations of ancestry. For each and every dog in the pedigree, there must be a registered name and registration
number.
6. The certificate includes the following information regarding the dog: registered name; foreign registration number; tattoo markings or microchip
implant information; the sex and colour; place and date of birth; name and address of breeder; names and registration numbers of sire and dam,
name and address of Canadian importer.
