Sample Letter:
Acknowledgement of Résumé Received
Church Ministry Assistant or Search Committee Correspondence Secretary: This
is an initial acknowledgement to all prospective candidates. Use church
letterhead for this letter. However, it is suggested that you hand write on a plain
envelope using the Search Committee chairperson’s name in the return address
instead of the church name. Writing “personal” on the envelope may also help
with confidentiality. Mail to the prospect’s home address if you have it. Consider
including a pre-addressed envelope—with or without a stamp, depending the
number sent out and your church’s budget—as a convenience to the prospect for
returning a response.
Dear._____________:
The (Position) Search Committee of _____________ Baptist
Church has been provided your name/résumé as a possible
candidate for (position). We are praying that our search be directed
by our Lord as we seek His direction in these matters. For now, we
are in the initial stages of our task and are in the process of
gathering several bits of information from our local church
members.
At this point, we simply desire to acknowledge we have received
your name. If you would prefer that we not consider you as a
prospect for (position) please send us a note to remove your name
from our search.
We pray God directs you in all you do in service to Him.
Sincerely,
Chair, (Position) Search Committee
