OVERDUE RENTAL CAR THEFT PACKET

The Criminal Investigations Division of the Lawrenceville Police Department, pursuant to
Sate of Georgia Code 16-8-4(2), requests the following procedures be adhered to, so that
your case may be expedited and to insure that we have the necessary evidence for

Complete the attached forms prior to requesting a police report from the Lawrenceville

Police Department. A checklist has been provided for your convenience. Place a check

mark next to each item as it is completed. If it is not applicable, “NA” should be put in the

space. Failure to provide the completed forms will result in delays on your request for

prosecution. Priority will be given to completed forms.

It should be the policy of your company to make copies of a photo ID from the person
that is renting on of your vehicles.
After you have completed the checklist, then call the Lawrenceville Police Department at
(770) 963-2443. A uniformed officer will be dispatched to your location to file the initial
theft report. At this time the vehicle will then be entered on NCIC as being stolen. A
Lawrenceville Police Department Detective will then be in contact with you in the next
several days. Please remit to the uniformed officer the original checklist, overdue
vehicle rental information and Affidavit.
These procedures clear up any confusion and streamline the prosecution process. If any of
these steps are not followed it will make it very difficult to prosecute the offender.
