MATHEMATICIAN RESEARCH PAPER

REPORT GUIDELINES:

The report can be handwritten or typed. If handwritten, it must be at least five full pages

without skipping lines. If handwritten, write on the front side of the paper only, NOT

front and back.

If typed, it must be at least 3 pages long, double spaced, Times New Roman, 11 point

font.

These lengths do not include the work cited page. Report must include a work cited page

of at least three sources. Citations should be in MLA or APA format.

The format for your report is as follows:

Introduction:

This section should contain information on the mathematician’s life (birth, family,

education, and etc.). It can also include information on ideas, inventions, discoveries, or

other interesting facts.

Major Contributions to Mathematics:

This section should discuss the mathematician’s major contribution to the field of

mathematics. Description of the discovery, theorem, or method is required, as well as a

discussion of its impact on the field of mathematics. This discussion may include its

impact on your education and study of mathematics.

Conclusion:

This section should contain information on the later years of the mathematician’s life. If

the mathematician is no longer living, discuss where, when, and how they died. If they

are still alive, then the discussion can focus on their current residence, employment,

and/or additional contributions to the field. You may also choose to discuss the impact

this mathematician’s work will have on future generations.

DO NOT cut and copy from an internet site to produce your report. That is plagiarism

and will result in a ZERO and an After School Detention. Write your report in your own

words.
