JR/ROTC AWARDS PRESENTATION

Presentation of AMVETS J/ROTC Medal and Certificate:

Wear distinctive AMVETS clothing, with the current logo.

Award presenters are usually seated facing the students and public. If seating is

unassigned, pick a front row seat, look sharp and remain alert.

At your turn to present, the following sequence is recommended.

o Read from the prepared script (following).

o As the student/cadet approaches the podium, continue to speak.

o At the end of your remarks, present the medal and certificate to the cadet.

Have it in your left hand, facing the audience, and reach under it to shake

hands. Hold the pose long enough to allow pictures to be taken.

When the ceremony ends, go directly to the cadet and his family. Someone will

have a camera. Offer to pose with just the cadet, then again with his/her entire

family, and any other photo requests. Remember, this is a special occasion so be

prepared to give some final congratulatory comments to the cadet and his family.

Before you leave, be sure to seek out the military science professor/senior

instructors or the event coordinator, and thank them for allowing you to be there.

Having your own camera is highly recommended but if you did not bring one,

please make certain to request a picture.
