Subject Choice Form DP Grade 11 – 12

Dear Student,

Welcome to the Admissions Process for entry to the IB Diploma Programme in CIS. The form you are filling

out now is the Preliminary Subject Choice Form. It is, in a sense, a wish list. Filling out this form does not

mean that you will get to do the subjects you listed. We use the responses to help us create timetable

blocks. Once the timetable blocks are ready, you may then be asked to complete a Final Subject Choice

Form.

You should be aware that it will never be possible to suit the individual needs of every student. We will try

to create a timetable which matches the needs of the majority but there is no guarantee that the timetable

eventually created will correspond to all your subject choices. To help you complete the form, you should

When filling the form on the back of this letter, please remember the following points:



You must choose ONE subject from each of the first 5 groups



You must then choose EITHER a subject in Group 6, OR one other subject from Groups 1 – 5.



You may only choose 6 subjects in total



You must choose one English course



You can only do three Higher Level and three Standard Level subjects. (Very able students may do four Higher

Level and two Standard Level subjects – but this is only with the permission of the DP Coordinator)



Mathematics (SL), Mathematical Studies and Language ab initio are only available at Standard Level



If you intend to apply to UK/Danish/European universities, you must ensure that your subjects, particularly

the HL subjects, meet university requirements.



You will have an opportunity to make changes to your subject choices, and levels, in early September but

only if timetable, and class size allow.



TOK is a compulsory subject, and so will automatically be on the timetable.



If you are applying to complete the CIS High School Diploma rather than the full IB Diploma, then you

should indicate which subjects (between 4 and 6) you would like to study, bearing in mind your current

transcript’s and the graduation requirements in place in CIS – all of which can be seen on our website.
