APPLICATION FOR PROPERTY TAX RELIEF FOR MILITARY PERSONNEL

(Pursuant to the Soldiers' and Sailors' Relief Act of 1940)

Military personnel on active DEPLOYMENT may be eligible to have penalties and interest waived upon

payment of their taxes under the provisions of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Civil Relief Act. Instead of the

penalties, costs and fees imposed under California law, the unpaid taxes are subject only to interest at

the rate of six percent (6%) per annum (Riverside County is waiving this interest provision as well). This

application form may be completed by the military serviceperson, his/her adult dependent, or any other

individual authorized by the serviceperson to act on his/her behalf (Proper documentation [i.e. Power of

Attorney] is required by any person signing this application on behalf of the service member). Please

attach a copy of your Military Orders and / or a letter from your Commanding Officer along with

your application.
