10How to make your Communication Book
This is for a simple book of just a few pages and is
designed for use in Early Years.
The individual elements should be printed out onto
card, laminated and then connected using following the
captions on the pages.
This book is designed to enable the user to follow the
PECS system but does not hold as many symbols and is
ideal for an initial communication book or for a child to
bring on trips out.
The symbols included are of things that a child may ask
for during an ‘Early Years’ session. I am able to make
additional symbols if required or provide Widgit™
symbols as opposed to the colourful PCS™ symbols.

Symbols included are:
Sheet 1: I want, toilet, drink, eat, cuddle, bricks, story,
Lego™.
Sheet 2: ball, paint, draw, colour, craft, playdough,
dressing up, jigsaw
Sheet 3: slide, sleep, stickle bricks, beads, television
programme, computer, game, home corner.
