Discipline Plan
In our discipline plan, we use a behavior management chart like a
traffic light as a visual reminder for the children, so they know how they are
doing each day. Everyone starts on “green” each day. A warning is given
and the child’s name is moved to “yellow”. A child on caution should think
about why their color was changed and the reason they were warned. If a
child continues to misbehave, the color is changed to “orange”. A child
will miss part of recess at this step. If problems continue, a child’s color is
changed to “Red”. A child misses all of recess and a conduct mark is given
on “red”. After four conduct marks, a discipline note is given. The child
has been referred to an administrator. Parents are required to conference
with the principal or assistant principal.
Each day your child will bring home a behavior chart. A green or fun
sticker indicates a good day. A yellow, orange, or red sticker will be given
to indicate what color your child was on at the end of the day. Parents
need to initial the behavior chart everyday and return the chart in the
folder. Praise your child for good behavior! At the end of the week, a Fun
Friday treat is given for 4 or 5 good or green stickers. Fun Friday treats might
be candy, a pencil, or extra recess time. Children on green for the entire
month also receive an extra treat!
We have 5 basic rules in our classroom. Please review them with
your child.
1. Follow Directions.
2. Listen Carefully.
3. Raise Your Hand.
4. Keep Hands, Feet, and Objects to Yourself.
5. Work quietly and safely.

I have read the discipline plan. I have reviewed the class rules with my
child. I will sign the behavior chart each day and talk to my child about
how to act at school. I will give my child lots of praise for being a great kid!
