Positive Behavior System Guidelines
Crossroads PRIDE
We show RESPECT in what we say and do
Our actions build TRUST WITH OTHERS
We take PRIDE in ourselves, our things and our school.
REPECT, TRUST, and CROSSROADS PRIDE
Crossroads Elementary is committed to reminders and positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior for
our students in the classroom and throughout the school. We believe that all students deserve a positive
environment for academic and social growth.
To help create such an atmosphere, we teach, encourage, coach and reinforce appropriate behavior by
following the Crossroads Expectations. Beginning next week, students will be introduced to the Behavior
Choice Clip Chart. All students begin each day on the Clip Chart at “Ready to Learn”. During the course
of the day, students move up and down the chart based upon the behavioral choices each student makes.
Good behavior choices result in student’s moving up one level. Inappropriate behavior choices will result
in student’s moving down one level. Teachers may have an individual system of rewards for students who
clipped up to “Outstanding”. Teachers may also have an individual system of logical consequences for
students who clipped down to “Teacher’s Choice”. When student’s reach “STOP” (Speak to Parents) on
the chart, school staff will contact the student’s parent/guardian. Contact can be made through a note in the
agenda, a phone call or an Office Discipline Referral. The clip chart levels are illustrated below.

Serious behaviors such as non-compliance, abusive language, fighting, bullying, etc. will result in an
immediate office discipline referral.
This team-based approach between home and school enables CES to provide proactive instruction for our
students and staff. Please review these guidelines with your child. Sign the form below and return it to
your child’s teacher by Monday, August 15, 2011. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to
call the school.
Thank you for your cooperation,
CES Staff
