PROCEDURE SHEET FOR UNIFORM CPA EXAMINATION
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS: Your application and supporting documents may be returned if they are not completed and in proper
form. Applicants should read the application and these instructions carefully, as failure to do so may cause additional
correspondence and delay in the processing of your application.
UNIFORM CPA EXAMINATION: Examinations are held in May and November of each year in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and
Juneau. See reverse side for schedule of examinations.
NOTARIZED APPLICATIONS: All applications must be notarized by a notary public. Foreign applications may be notarized
by the Consular Service of the United States of America or the Consulate General of the United States of America if a notary
public is not available.
FOR FOREIGN DEGREES: Transcripts must be evaluated by an approved credentials evaluation service (list attached). The
original evaluation must be mailed directly from the credentials evaluation service to the board and received by the application
deadline date.
EXAM FEE FORFEITURE: If a candidate fails to take an examination without notifying the department in writing 30 days before
the examination date, the candidate’s examination fee will be forfeited except upon a showing of good cause.
THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS MUST BE RECEIVED AT LEAST 60 DAYS BEFORE THE EXAMINATION DATE:
1. A completed and notarized application and fees. Form 08-4093 (If a candidate fails to take an exam, he/she will forfeit
the examination fee unless the department is notified in writing 30 days prior to the exam.)

2. An official copy of your transcripts (AND credential evaluation for all foreign applicants) must be mailed directly to this
office from the institution and received by the 60-day deadline and must verify that you either
(1) have a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent conferred by a college or university acceptable to the board
with
(A) an accounting concentration or the equivalent, as defined in regulation 12 AAC 04.185; or
(B) a minimum of 15 semester credit hours or 22 quarter credit hours of accounting subjects;
OR
(2) have met or are within 18 semester credit hours or 27 quarter credit hours of meeting the undergraduate
educational requirements of AS 08.04.120 and have completed at least 15 semester hours or 22 quarter hours of
accounting subjects. You must use Form 08-4093(b).
(3) If you have a baccalaureate degree but have not completed at least 15 semester hours of accounting
subjects, you must use Form 08-4093(c) to verify that you have completed at least one year of public accounting
experience under the direct supervision of a certified public accountant. If the supervising CPA is not licensed in
Alaska, you must also use Form 08-4093(f) to verify the supervising CPA's license to practice.
Applicants will be required to write the examination in Alaska.
Applicants requesting to be proctored in another state must demonstrate to the board that circumstances beyond
the person's control prevent them from being physically able to sit for the examination in Alaska.
IN THE EVENT WHERE EXAMINATION ADMINISTRATION IS NOT POSSIBLE OR EXAMINATION PAPERS ARE LOST DUE
TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND THE BOARD'S CONTROL, THE ALASKA STATE BOARD OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTANCY
WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE.
