To:
Companies with equipment and/or a business in the City of Falls Church, Virginia
From:
Tom Clinton, Commissioner of the Revenue
City of Falls Church, Virginia
Date:
February 20, 2010
Subject: Please use our correct office address and office title in all of your company’s records!
Please check your records very carefully; you may need to change our office title or street
address in your records. Please do not use the words “Assessor”, “City Assessor” or “Assessing
Department” as that will incorrectly route your paperwork to our “City Assessor’s Office”.
He works in a different department from the Commissioner of the Revenue, and he only handles
real estate, or real property tax assessments, so the processing of your return will be delayed.
For Tangible Personal Property Tax assessments on all types of business equipment, Personal
Property assessments on motor vehicles, and the assessment of the Business License Tax and
other taxes, please use the correct office title and address below to ensure the fastest service:

Not sure what jurisdiction a specific street address belongs to? Go to the US Postal
Service’s web site’s home page at: , click on the “Find a Zip Code” tab in the
very upper left hand corner, then enter a street address, and click on the “Submit” link below,
once it finds the full street address that you entered, click on the “Mailing Industry
Information” link, you will then go to a screen that lists, on the second line, called “County”,
exactly what local jurisdiction that specific street address belongs to. This information is almost
always correct. Bookmark this “Find a Zip Code” URL in your favorites for address checking
in the future.
