BIENNIAL LICENSE RENEWAL FOR GENERAL
CONTRACTOR - WITH RESIDENTIAL ENDORSEMENT
January 1, 2003 – December 31, 2004
IT IS TIME TO RENEW YOUR GENERAL CONTRACTOR LICENSE
Your license to practice as a General Contractor in the State of Alaska expires on December 31, 2002. It is illegal for you to
practice if your license has expired. There is no grace period. To renew your license, for the period from January 1, 2003
through December 31, 2004, return this signed application to the above address with a check or money order, payable to the
State of Alaska. This is the only renewal notice you will receive. Incomplete applications or insufficient fees will result in your
renewal being rejected.
RENEWAL DUE DATE
Complete this form and return with the appropriate fee for processing. The processing
time for correct and completed renewal applications is three to four weeks after receipt.
Plan accordingly and submit your form by November 30, 2002, to ensure processing by
the lapse date of December 31, 2002.
If you require confirmation of receipt for your renewal, please request this from the delivery
service. ALL RENEWALS ARE PROCESSED IN DATE ORDER RECEIVED .
RESIDENTIAL ENDORSEMENT
Attach your residential endorsement holder’s renewal application to this general contractor
renewal application. Failure to submit the residential endorsement renewal with this
application may cause substantial delays or rejection in processing the contractor
renewal.
NAME CHANGE
If you are a sole proprietor or a partner and have had a legal name change since the last
endorsement was issued, enclose a certified true copy of the legal document (marriage
certificate, divorce decree, etc.), as proof of the change.
CHANGE OF BUSINESS NAME
Licenses are not transferable. If you have changed your business name or ownership

EXPIRED LICENSES
There is no "inactive" license status. Licenses which have expired for more than five years
cannot be renewed.
SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS
In accordance with AS 08.01.100, the department is not authorized to renew a sole
proprietor or partnership license, unless the applicant’s social security number has been
provided to the department. If a partnership, the social security numbers for all partners
is required. If you do not have a social security number, obtain a waiver request from the
division website at: If you previously
qualified for a waiver to meet this requirement, you must still requalify to renew.
PAYMENT OF CHILD SUPPORT
If the Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education has determined you are in loan
AND STUDENT LOANS
default, or if the Alaska Child Support Enforcement Division has determined you are in
arrears on child support, you will be issued a nonrenewable, temporary license valid for

issues.
