Dear Reverend,

Since 1991, NAMI (State) family member volunteers have been teaching the NAMI Family-to-

Family Education Program. This Program is sponsored by NAMI as part of a nationwide

initiative to educate family members whose loved ones have a mental illness. To date, about

100,000 family members across the country have taken the 12-week class.

In (State), about 1,600 people have taken the class. We offer at least (# of classes) Family

Education classes around the state each year. This spring I am pleased to say that we are

offering the Family Education class in (name of city) at the (name of church) beginning

(day/date), from (start and end time) (a.m. or p.m.) for 12 consecutive weeks. The class is free

and geared to family members whose loved ones have schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major

depression, panic disorder, or obsessive compulsive disorder, and possibly a co-occurring

substance abuse problem.

I have enclosed a brochure about Family-to-Family, in general, a poster about the (name of city)

class, and the agenda of what we cover in this free, 12-week class. I would appreciate your

making your parishioners aware of this class, as appropriate. Ministers often counsel people and

mental illness can create great strain in the life of a family.
