APPLICATION & INSTRUCTIONS FOR A
TEMPORARY AUCTIONEER
CODE-204A
A temporary auctioneer license shall be issued to a person, firm, partnership, association, organization,
or corporation engaged in or existing for charitable, benevolent, eleemosynary, humane, religious,
philanthropic, recreational, social, educational, civic, fraternal, or other nonprofit purpose and to a
citizen-service program established pursuant to the District of Columbia Campaign Finance Reform and
Conflict of Interest Act. A temporary auctioneer license shall be valid for a period of not more than
seven (7) calendar days.
Please read and follow these instructions carefully. A correctly completed application will expedite the
issuance of your business license.
1.
An identification application (BRA-4) is required. (attached)
2.
A Tax Registration Certificate is required from the Office of Tax and Revenue. For additional
information, please call (202) 727-4829 or visit the Tax Customer Center on the I” Floor, Room
#1110.
3.
Two (2) full-faced color passport photographs are required. These can be not more than ninety
(90) days old.
4.
A Police Criminal History Report (PD-70) is required. A District of Columbia resident may
obtain this report from the D.C. Metropolitan Police, 300 Indiana Avenue, N.W., Room #3055.
5.
An interview must be scheduled with the Metropolitan Police Pawn Unit, 300 Indiana Avenue,
N.W., located on the 3rd Floor. Please call Det. Urps on (202) 724-3771 to schedule an appoint-
ment.
6.
If the applicant does not meet the residence requirement but possesses special qualifications
which will contribute to the effective sale of specially described good, the Director may waive
the residency requirement and authorize the issuance of a license. The application must be
supported by a certificate petition setting fourth exceptional circumstances.
7.
A Certified Resident Agent Appointment Form must be completed, notarized and submitted
along with the application for licensure.
8.
The license fee is fifty dollars ($50).
