It is helpful to both the Clinical Instructor and the incoming Learner to have at least the
first 2 weeks of the placement “mapped” out on a weekly schedule. Schedule the
orientation activities, client appointments and regularly occurring meetings so that the
learner can anticipate time in their schedule that they may be able to use for planning,
documentation, or projects.
Other time management strategies may include keeping the master copy of the weekly
schedule posted in a central location for both the instructor and learner to access so that
as changes occur, each person can take individual responsibility for checking the
schedule.
