GUIDANCE NOTES
IMPORTANT
These notes are provided to assist in the completion of the Application for the Issue of a Certificate of Airworthiness.
They do not override or supersede any airworthiness regulation. Refer to the Air Navigation (Overseas Territories) Order
and Overseas Territories Aviation Requirements (OTARs).
Applicants should be aware that unless all entries are completed accurately and all necessary documentation
supplied, the BDCA will not be able to process the application to completion. It is in the interest of the applicant
to supply all the requested information as soon as possible in order to avoid any delay in processing the
application.
Note 1 - The manufacturer and type certificate designation of the engine type is required.
Note 2 - The manufacturer and type certificate designation of the propeller type is required. The engine/propeller
combination must comply with the Type Certificate Data Sheet or approved alternative.
Note 3 - Please indicate the reference of the maintenance program to which the aircraft will be maintained and whether
any bridging checks will be necessary to bring the aircraft on to the proposed maintenance program.
The maintenance programme must be approved by the BDCA. To apply for approval the applicant should submit a copy
of the maintenance programme along with Form AW-285 (Maintenance Programme Approval Application) and Form
AW-287(Maintenance Programme Checklist).
Note 4 - Please state the Chapter of ICAO Annex 16 with which the aircraft complies and supply confirmatory evidence,
and submit Form AW-268. Confirmatory evidence shall be a copy of the Noise limitations in the Flight Manual and the
Noise Certificate issued by the previous NAA, if applicable.
Note 5 - Please state the Type Certificate with which the aircraft, engines and propeller comply and supply a copy of the
relevant Type Certificate Data Sheets.
Note 6 - The applicable Flight Manual Reference and revision status is required. Attach a copy of the approval page of
the Flight Manual, confirmation from the manufacturer of the latest Revision Status and completed form AW-235.
Note 7 - The Export Certificate of Airworthiness must be issued by the last state of registry within 60 days of the
Application for the Issue of a Certificate of Airworthiness. The applicant should attach a copy of the Export Certificate of
Airworthiness if already issued.
Note 8 - The applicant should indicate the BDCA MEL approval reference (if applicable) or N/A. The applicant is
requested to contact BDCA Flight Operations Department for MEL guidance at dcafltops@gov.bm.
For Commercial Air Transport Category aircraft operating under an Article 83bis Agreement, the MEL is approved by the
State of the Operator in accordance with the agreement between Bermuda and the other ICAO Contracting state. In this
case the applicant should indicate N/A.
Note 9 - A copy of the Technical Log Sheet to be used with the aircraft should be included with this application.
Note 10 - In accordance with OTAR 39.73(c)(10) all aircraft registered in Bermuda must have a damage chart to record all
airframe damage which shows each damage site with a reference to a certified assessment to approved data supporting
continued aircraft operation.
Note 11 - The Technical Coordinator or Post Holder (as described in OTAR 39.51) or authorised staff of the Bermuda
approved OTAR 39 CAMO must sign the application.
