Paper Airplane Challenge
Your goal is to design a paper airplane using AutoCAD that will fly the farthest distance. You will create
your design using lines, arcs, text and dimensions. Your plane must be created out of a single, standard
8.5in x 11in piece of copy paper.
Be as original as you like, but here is the kicker; a partner will build an assemble your airplane from only
the directions that you provide. Your partner will only be given a blank piece of paper to build your
airplane from and your instructions.. Your partner may not ask any questions while building the airplane
and will be timed to see how long it takes them to build your airplane.
The planes will be launched by hand on level ground. The paper airplane will be flown either out on the
school field or in the Auto shop (weather depending). The team with the combined distance and
shortest amount of fabrication time is the winner.
Your plans must include:
Must show the unfolded airplane in the Layout/Paper Space using a viewport
Dimensions
Scale (ex: 1:1, 1:2, 1:4) - use a common scale that is easy to use.
Cut lines (solid lines)
Fold lines (hidden/dashed lines)
Instructions (Text)
