Pack Campground Approval Form

This Campground Approval Form is to be used by the pack to evaluate local overnight

family camping locations. It should be kept on file in the council office for local unit use and

periodically reviewed for accuracy.

All volunteers participating in official Scouting activities should become familiar with

the Guide To Safe Scouting. Unit leaders should be aware of state or local government regulations that

supersede BSA policies and guidelines.

MANDATORY STANDARDS (ALL SHOULD BE MET TO BE APPROVED)

1. Campground site is clean and safe from hazards.

2. Camping is not located near any natural or manmade hazards.

3. Facilities are available for the proper and sanitary disposal of garbage,

with vermin-proof receptacles. These facilities are serviced

regularly by the managing agency.

4. Drinking water from an approved source is provided at convenient

locations and is readily accessible.

5. Emergency assistance is available 24 hours a day.

6. A phone is available for emergency use.

_____

7. If fires are permitted, safe equipment is provided for cooking or

recreational fires.

9. Each family site is within 300 feet of a sanitary toilet facility.

10. Any individual site hook-ups provided for electricity, water or sewer

meet all appropriate local and state health codes.
