El Formulario de Autorización de Defensa le da permiso al Congresista Thompson y su personal para

contactar a Inmigración y Aduanas en nombre de la persona que lo ha llenado y firmado. Esto significa que podemos

What is the Advocacy Authorization Form?

The Advocacy Authorization Form gives Congressman Thompson and his staff permission to contact

Immigration and Customs Enforcement on behalf of the person who has filled it out and signed it. It means that we can

request case status, information about where and how someone is being held, and request agency actions that are within

the scope of the law. We cannot ask any agency to do anything that is outside the law and we cannot serve as an

attorney or make statements in a legal case.

Who can use it?

Anyone who lives in California’s 5

Congressional District can use this form. Each individual family member

should fill out the form. If the individual is under the age of 18 both the parent and child should sign the form. If the

child is over 18, they must sign the form.

How does it work?

Anyone can fill this form out. It should be kept with important papers or other documents with someone who

can submit the form in the event that you are not able to submit it yourself. It can be submitted to our office to have on

file.

This does not replace having an attorney on retainer and it does not guarantee that an individual will not be

deported. It does ensure that your family will be able to get accurate information as to your whereabouts, and it also will

make sure that the agency is aware that we are watching the case.
