PROCEDURE TO OBTAIN A PHARMACY TECHNICIAN LICENSE IN THE STATE OF ALASKA
In accordance with 12 AAC 52.230, on or after July 1, 1998, an individual who assists in performing
manipulative, nondiscretionary functions associated with the practice of pharmacy shall be licensed
as a pharmacy technician.
NOTE: Please read the application, statutes, regulations, and all instructions carefully. It is your responsibility
to be aware of licensing requirements and provide all necessary documentation. No license will be issued until
your application file is complete.
The following documents MUST be on file to be considered for a pharmacy technician license:
1. Completed, notarized application.
2. Fees required in accordance with 12 AAC 02.310:
• $ 50.00 nonrefundable application fee
• $ 50.00 technician license fee
$ 100.00 total
NOTES TO ALL APPLICANTS FOR LICENSURE:
Valid Timeframe for Technician License
Technician licenses expire June 30 of even-numbered years and may be renewed by submitting an application
along with the appropriate fees and supporting documents.
English Language
All applicants must be fluent in the reading, writing, and speaking of the English language.
Address Change
The division MUST be notified in writing of address changes.
Supporting Documentation
All copies of documents must be certified by the applicant as true and correct copies of original, with the signature
notarized. 8½ " x 11" copies are preferred.
Social Security Number
In accordance with AS 08.01.060, the department is not authorized to issue a license unless the applicant has
provided their social security number. If you are a foreign citizen unable to obtain a United States Social Security
Number, please contact the Division of Occupational Licensing for further instructions.
