“Cereal Box” Book Report
Book Title:
Date due: You might want to do this project over the vacation, but if
you don’t have time, you will have four weeks to complete it after
vacation is over.)
Your Assignment:
1. Read a chapter book that you have not read before.
2. Create a “cereal box” book report to be shared with your
classmates. Directions are written below.
3. Have fun!
You will need:
 An empty cereal box
 Paper to cover the box
 Markers or crayons for drawing a picture
 Various other materials to complete the project
 You may print your answers neatly on the paper or you may
choose to use your computer at home to complete the project
Directions: After you have read your book for your book report, you
will be recreating the cereal box to fit your book.
1. Cover the box with paper. (Most cereal boxes can be
covered by attaching printer paper.)
2. For the front of the box, draw a picture to represent the book
and write the title and your name.
3. For one narrow side, write a summary of the book.
4. For the other narrow side, list the “ingredients” (author,
characters, setting).
5. For the back of the box, make up a game that can be
played that relates to your book (Examples: word search,
crossword puzzle, riddles, etc.)
6. Make a small “toy” to put inside the box that represents your
book (Example: For Nate the Great, you could make a
magnifying glass or a detective’s hat or a stack of pancakes.)
6. You may use your computer at home to complete your work
or you may print or write neatly.
