q For persons who wish to be protected against HPV, persons who are immunocompromised and men who have sex with men, based on an individual risk assessment. Only Gardasil
is
registered for use in males.

4vMenCV and MenBV are recommended for adults at high risk for meningococcal disease, including adults with certain high-risk medical conditions and laboratory personnel who handle
Neisseria meningitidis. MenBV is also recommended for all adolescents aged 15–19 years due to their higher risk of disease compared with other age groups, especially young adults living in
close quarters, such as new military recruits and students living in residential accommodation. The required doses of these meningococcal vaccines depend on the age at which the vaccine
course is commenced and the vaccine formulation used as outlined in the current version of the 10th edition Handbook online.
s For adults who live in the outer islands in the Torres Strait or non-residents who will live or work on the outer islands for a cumulative total of 30 days or more during the wet season, as well as
laboratory personnel who might be exposed to the virus. Contact state and territory health authorities for information on any local vaccination programs. The required doses, including the need
for booster doses, depends on the vaccine formulation used as outlined in the current version of the 10th edition Handbook online.

For workers and others at risk of infection with Coxiella burnetii and who are seronegative for Q fever, including farmers, abattoir workers, animal transporters, veterinarians and veterinary
nurses and students, professional dog and cat breeders, agricultural college staff and students, and others exposed to cattle, camels, sheep, goats and kangaroos or their products (for a
complete list refer to the current version of the 10th edition Handbook online); also, laboratory personnel handling veterinary specimens or working with C. burnetii.
u Persons who did not receive any Hib-containing vaccines in childhood or who were incompletely vaccinated and now have either functional or anatomical asplenia should receive a single dose
of a Hib-containing vaccine. Allogeneic and autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients should receive 3 doses of Hib conjugate vaccine post transplant.
v Persons who are at ongoing risk of exposure to bats because of their occupation (including bat handlers and volunteers, veterinarians, wildlife officers and others who come into direct contact
with bats), persons working with terrestrial animals in rabies-enzootic areas or laboratory personnel working with any live lyssavirus should be vaccinated. (For advice on post-exposure
