Objective:
1. Students will determine the vocabulary needed to fill in a given sentence.
2. Students will find the vocabulary words in the word find puzzle.
Materials Needed:
1. Vocabulary list
2. Suggested sentences
3. Word find puzzle
Procedure:
1. Print vocabulary on board or separate papers.
2. Copy the sentence fill-in/word find puzzle for each student/team.
3. Review sentence fill-ins and vocabulary meaning.
4. Review the word find.
Observations:
1. What have the students learned about what makes a fossil?
2. Can the students describe the characteristics of a fossil?
Evaluation:
1. Review the students’ work sheet.
2. A worksheet for the students to complete as they tour the gallery, identify different animals found in the
various times.
Modifications:
1. Modifications could be made by adding or subtracting letters to the sentence fill-ins.
2. Word find could be adjusted to be mono-directional.
3. Puzzle could be optional.
