Body Paragraph Elements
1. TOPIC SENTENCE introduces one way you will SUPPORT your Thesis
Statement from your INTRODUCTION.
2. DEVELOP your ideas from your TOPIC SENTENCES using facts, quotes, stats,
or specific examples from the literature to argue your position.
3. CONCLUDING/TRANSITIONAL SENTENCE to wrap up and relate ALL ideas
to your THESIS STATEMENT before moving on to your next body paragraph.
Things to remember
1. Your opinion does not count unless you prove it with specific examples.
2. Each TOPIC SENTENCE should be ONE reason that proves your THESIS
STATEMENT.
3. At least THREE (3) supporting details are needed for each TOPIC SENTENCE.
4. A BODY PARAGRAPH should be at least FIVE (5) sentences in length.
