5 Days Prior to the Colonoscopy

• Stop aspirin & other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents (Motrin,

Advil, etc.)

• Stop blood thinners such as Plavix or Coumadin unless you are instructed

to continue these by Dr. Riegler

3 Days prior to the Colonoscopy

• Stop taking fiber (Metamucil, etc.) or iron supplements

• Pick up MoviPrep from Pharmacy

• Avoid foods containing seeds, nuts or vegetable/fruit skins

2 Days prior to the Colonoscopy

• Please take 2 Dulcolax laxative tablets (available at the pharmacy over the

counter) at bedtime

The Day prior to the Colonoscopy

• CLEAR LIQUIDS ONLY – No Solid Food Please

May use: juice (no pulp), water, broth, bouillon, black coffee or tea (no

•

cream), Gatorade, soft drinks, Kool-aide, jello, popsicles, hard candies,

gummy bears, vitamin water, Crystal Lite. Please avoid red drinks or

foods.

• AT 6 PM, drink the first liter of MoviPrep (see attached

instructions)

The Day of the Colonoscopy

If you have an afternoon procedure you may have a clear liquid

•

breakfast, including black coffee, prior to drinking the 2

dose of

MoviPrep

• 5 Hours before your scheduled arrival time, drink the

second liter of MoviPrep (see attached instructions)

After completing the second dose of MoviPrep followed by 16 oz of

•

clear liquid, please drink nothing more.

NOTES:

Please take all your medications as usual unless instructed to do otherwise by Dr.

•

Riegler. Your morning medications should be taken prior to drinking the second

dose of MoviPrep.

Please remember to arrive at the above scheduled time for your colonoscopy and

•

have arrangements made for someone to drive you home following the procedure
