A Family Newsletter
Greetings, Family!
In science class, we are beginning a Life Science unit called Alive. During
this time, students will learn about living things by observing brine
shrimp, pill bugs, sow bugs, fish, plants, and seeds.
Ordinary things in and around your home can make science inter-
esting and real for your child. If you have a yard or park nearby, these
lessons should enhance your child’s ability to observe the many types
of animals and plants they will encounter in the classroom.
In one section, your student will be given a homework assignment
asking you to take him or her to the grocery store to look for food products
that come from the ocean. Some examples might be fish, lobster, squid,
and seaweed. Thank you for your help with this assignment.
We are also collecting the items listed below. Can you donate any of
them? If so, we need to receive your donated items by
.
carrot or potato
8 goldfish
2 L bottle
30 paper cups, 8 oz
live brine shrimp adults
potting soil (10-lb bag)
Finally, we can always use your help in the classroom. Do you or
other family members have a particular interest or special experience
with science? Would you be able to help with activities? If so, please
fill out the form below and have your student return it to class.
Thank you very much for your help!
