Full-time students are disregarded when adding up the number of occupiers of a dwelling for the purposes of
determining if a discount is to be granted. If all but one of the occupiers is a student, a 25% discount is granted on
the Council Tax bill. If all the occupiers are students, the dwelling is completely exempt from Council Tax.
Your College or University will issue a certificate to its students on request and THIS MUST BE SENT IN WITH
THIS APPLICATION FORM. Please note that if you are studying at Queen Mary University of London you do not
need to obtain a certificate as your information will be passed by QMUL direct to the Council. You must however
still complete and return this form.
