Letter to Family

Dear Family,

I'd like you to work with your child to make a puppet from a brown paper bag

of any size. Your child can color on the bag to make a face for the puppet. I'd

like you to help your child think of a way to show the addition of two numbers

less than ten on the puppet. For example, the puppet might have 2 green but-

tons and 3 blue buttons on its shirt. You would need to add 2 and 3 to find how

many buttons in all. I'd like you or your child to write the addition fact that is

illustrated on the puppet on the back of the paper bag puppet. We will use the

puppets as we explore addition.
