Letter to Family
Dear Family,
I would like you to do a counting activity with your child. Please find 20 small
objects such as paper clips or bottle caps. Have your child count to see how
many there are. Then tell your child to count them a different way and ask
your child if he or she would like to count by twos or fives. Once your child has
decided, have your child count the group by twos (2, 4, 6, etc.) or fives (5, 10,
15, etc.). Have your child make a record of what and how he or she counted.
Your child can draw pictures or glue the objects onto a piece of heavy paper in
groups of two or five. Write the number that shows the count below each group.
In class I will make a bulletin board display of these counting pictures.
Your child needs to bring this to school by ____________.

Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,
