Letter to Family

Dear Family,

Our class is studying addition. I'd like you to help your child select up to

8 small objects from home that can be put into two groups, for example,

3 yellow buttons and 2 green buttons (5 buttons in all) or 4 pink rubber

bands and 4 yellow rubber bands (8 rubber bands in all). I'd like you to

put these objects in an envelope, paper bag, or box with your child's

name and the total number of objects written on it. Be sure not to choose

valuable items that may not be returned.

We will use these groups of objects to write addition sentences.

Your child needs to bring this to school by
