Dear Family,

We will be learning about words that describe positions. We would like you

to help your child draw a picture that shows the position of something. The

position words that we will focus on are:

• top

• right

• middle

• over

• bottom

• under

• before

• on

• after

• up

• between

• down

• left

• on top of

Have your child find and draw a picture of something in your house that shows

position. Under the picture, please write a description of what is being shown.

For example, you might write, "The teapot is on top of the table." It would also

be helpful if you underline the words that show position.

The children will share their drawings and the position words with each other.

They will also group together those drawings that show the same position word.
