Dear Family,

I would like you to do an activity with your child, using a small amount of

money. I would like you and your child to figure out one way to make 50¢ using

more than one coin, but without using any pennies. Once you have figured it

out, I would like you to help your child draw a picture of the coins and label

them to show the way you did it.

In school, we will look at all the ways children found to make 50¢ without using

any pennies. We will see how many different ways there are.
