Dear Family,
I'd like you to have your child bring to school a few old buttons that you don't
need anymore. We will use these buttons in a math lesson. I'll create groups of
buttons for the children to look at. I'll make statements about the buttons and
ask the children if the statements are true or false. For example, I might say, “All
of the buttons are red.” Then the children will tell me if I have said something
that is true or something that is false. I'll be focusing on the words some, every,
many, none, and all as we do this activity. Later I'll have the children create their
own statements about groups of buttons.
