LDAT Application
Letter of Support Guide
Why is a Letter of Support important?
Local Drug Action Teams (LDATs) and projects are likely to be more effective when they have the
explicit support of leaders within local Community Groups working in partnership.
Based on this, we have requested that prospective LDATs have multi-sector support and
membership from at least two other organisations from within the community. Ideally, there would
be cross-sector representation, a commitment to collaboration, a formal arrangement to guide the
work of the group (including clear commitment from senior leaders) and an ability to enact change.
Leadership support and partnership is best evidenced via a ‘Letter of Support’ signed by the
organisational Leaders of the proposed LDAT coalition. Examples of nominated Leaders include:
Elders, CEOs, Chairs, and/or other equivalent organisation leaders.
Providing a Letter of Support with your LDAT Application demonstrates that your coalition is
committed to working together and have a shared strategic intent to address issues in your
community.
What should be included in my Letter of Support?
