Turn the foam cups over and place the tray on top of them.

Your teacher will add cool water to the tray. Wait for the

water to stop moving. Then gently slide the cup of hot

water under the middle of the tray.

What do you think will happen to the temperature of the

water in the center of the tray?

What do you think would happen if you put a drop of food

coloring in the bottom center of the tray?

Use the pipette to put two drops of blue food coloring at the

bottom of the tray, one at each edge of the cup as shown

above. Do not let go of the bulb as you remove the pipette.

On the diagram above, draw a picture of what happens.

What happened to the blue drops?
