The above nonprofit literacy organization qualifies for the state and local sales tax exemption allowed by
Revised Statute 47:305.14(A)(5) for the organization’s purchases of books, workbooks, computers, computer
software, films, videos, and audio tapes.
The authorized person for the nonprofit literacy organization certifies the following:

The nonprofit literacy organization is in compliance with the court order from the Dodd Brumfield
decision and does not discriminate based on age, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or
physical or mental disability.
•
The nonprofit literacy organization is exempt from federal taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the
Internal Revenue Code.
•
The sales tax exemption will only be used for the purchase of books, workbooks, computers,
computer software, films, videos, and audio tapes.
•
If sales tax is later found to be due, the organization will be responsible for any tax liabilities.
